Location

TSPU is located in the unique Siberian city of Tomsk with a rich 400-year history. Today, Tomsk is the leading scientific and educational center of Siberia and is often called the "Siberian Oxford." According to the international agency (QS Best Student Cities), Tomsk is Russia's third best student city after Moscow and St. Petersburg. Currently, 550 thousand people live in the city. About 100 thousand of them are students, including those from other regions of Russia, Asia, Europe, America, and Africa. They study at six state universities, one of which is Tomsk State Pedagogical University. The city has a rich cultural and sports life. Tomsk has ten theaters, seven movie theaters, twenty museums, numerous concert halls, and nightclubs. There are four large stadiums, nine swimming pools, eight ski resorts, a large skating rink, tennis courts, bicycle rentals, a riding club, martial arts schools, tourist clubs, and singing schools open all year round.

Almost all major religions are represented in Tomsk. There are many Orthodox churches, two mosques, a Catholic Church, a choir synagogue, and a Protestant church. The city is located in the south of Western Siberia. The climate here is a transition from temperate to strongly continental. Winters are cold with an average temperature of about -15 C (5 F), snowy with many sunny days. Summers are warm, with an average temperature of +22 C (71.6 F), which can rise to 36 C (96.8 F). Tomsk is a good starting point for your journey through Russia. By train, you can reach Lake Baikal or Sheregesh ski resort in just a day.

Thanks to the focus on phonetics and vocabulary, I've often been complimented by Russian speakers on my accent and knowledge of slightly obscure Russian words. We covered all aspects of language learning and our teachers always pushed us to achieve our best, while still maintaining a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in the class. Living at TSPU

The student union consists of several organizations: Student Council, Student Club, Trade Union of Students, Leader Unit, Volunteer Unit, Tourist Club, Sports Club. Sport has a special place in the life of the university. Olympic champions and the world and European champions studied at the university. Every year, the university hosts the International Student Spartakiad. Also, TSPU has its own tv channel.

ACCOMMODATION: Rooms for 2-3 people are 800 - 4500 rubles per month. The RH has a dining room, gyms, laundry.

Upon arrival in Tomsk for study, all international students must appear at the International Information Center within three working days for migration registration or verification of documents. You must have a passport or other document on which you entered the Russian Federation and a migration card.

Do I need my credentials evaluated to be admitted to a Russian university?

Up-to-date information on the requirements for international credentials submission to Russian universities can be found on the website https://nic.gov.ru/en . Please note that a credential evaluation paper (if applied) must be provided for the full-time enrollment upon submission of the documents. A document on previous education is not required to study at the preparatory department and Russian language courses.

Can I get enrolled at TSPU with a visa issued to study at another university?

International students can only get enrolled at the university with a visa issued by the inviting university. However, an international student can later transfer to another university if certain conditions are met. All international students are required to obtain valid medical insurance for the duration of their studies.

Can international students work?

International students can work in their free time. If a student stops studying, then the right to work is also lost, and the student must leave the Russian Federation within three days.

How can you get a scholarship to study at TSPU?

International students can apply to study in Russia within the Russian Federation Government scholarship. Please contact the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in your country. When applying, choose TSPU for training. https://rs.gov.ru/en/contacts

Is it possible to study in the Russian language preparatory department?

Yes, training at the preparatory department takes nine months. The tuition fee is 94,000-105,000 rubles. After graduation, it is possible to enroll in any educational program and apply for a RF scholarship. Individual training is also possible in accordance with the language knowledge level.

Are there any seasonal schools available at TSPU?

Yes, TSPU annually offers Seasonal Schools of Russian Language and Culture. Besides the language, the course includes seminars, masterclasses, theater training, Russian cuisine.

Can international students participate in academic exchange programs?

Yes, if there are no citizenship restrictions.
