Rediscovering Tomsk: TSOU Students Host Exciting City Quest for Foreigners

International and non-resident students from the Institute of Foreign Languages and International Cooperation, the Faculty of History and Philology , and the Institute of Childhood and art-pedagogy recently embarked on an unforgettable adventure through the heart of Tomsk. Organized by students of Foreign Languages and International Cooperation at Tomsk State Pedagogical University, the event was part of the All-Russian student project competition "Your Move".

The quest, called "Tomsk: A New Route," aimed to help foreign and non-resident students get to know the city better and discover fun activities. Students from various parts of Russia, China, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan explored the city together. Participants visited popular spots like Lagerny and Buff Gardens and learned about local heritage projects such as the "House for a Ruble" program and the "Tom Sawyer Fest." They also enjoyed a visit to "Apartment No. 1," where they saw 19th-century architecture and tasted traditional Russian pies and pancakes.

The event helped students connect with Tomsk’s culture and history while having fun and making new friends. It was a great way for international and non-resident students to feel more at home in their new city. At each location, students completed tasks that enriched their knowledge about Tomsk's landmarks. They searched for information about the sites, took part in a creative photo contest, and competed in sports activities.

Dong Shuhan, a graduate student from China, noted that the quest provided an opportunity to learn interesting facts about Tomsk and practice Russian through active communication with organizers and fellow students from different countries.

The most active and creative participants received winner certificates and memorable prizes. A report on the "Tomsk: A New Route" quest will be submitted to the All-Russian student project competition "Your Move." The evaluation of the initiatives will take place in August, and the top 500 projects will be invited to present their work at the finals in Moscow.
